SE METTRE À COUVERT (To Take Cover)

2017
Artist residency in a Youth Center
Foldable studio (coroplast and hardware). Artist's notebook

I led self-portrait workshops with children from 8 to 12 years old living in a foster care facility in Montreal CA. The foldable studio allowed children to isolate themselves from the rest of the group while they were remembering moments of their lives in order to experience a specific emotion and photograph themselves. The purpose of these workshops was to help the children understand and familiarize themselves with the variations in their spectrum of emotions, from their happiest moments to their fits of rage.

The photographs were given back to the children and never shown elsewhere. The foldable studio and the artist’s notebook were exhibited as artefacts of the project.
