LEVEL AGAIN

2023
Performance. 30 min.
Ambient electronic music (music composition: Anouk Verviers), pink neons, 75kg of cob (mix of clay, sand, and hay), printed socks worn by the performers, harnesses made from recycled tarp, pulleys, carabiners, water sprayer, tarp, scaffolding pieces, recycled poplar and plywood, rods, wheels

Calling on our many cells to muffle our twisting nerves long enough to learn how to walk level again Level again is a feminist science-fiction experiment weaving together ideas of chronic pain, ecological interconnectedness, and empowering exhaustion of womxn bodies. Performers are connected by cords to a platform on which they work together to build a column out of 75kg of cob – a mix of clay, sand, and hay. The movements of their bodies are communicated to the platform, angling the column as they build. When their construction inevitably collapses, they switch places and restart the game.
