We met three times a week for two months to do maths together. On the coop's picnic table, she studied for several hours a day. I've never seen a young person improve like that.
Her mother called me, and I could hear the distress in the rasp of her voice. She felt caught between the head of school and her daughter. She asked for help, knowing full well that there was nothing I could do.
I was all alone in July in a half-moved out apartment. I sat on the floor and talked to the emptiness. There was nothing I could do and I felt powerless. I recorded this:
